Cahors
Poppy Cottage gite is the perfect place to discover the beautiful Quercy countryside with its old towns and fabulous markets.

Cajarc is a busy small town with several restaurants and bars. In late July there is the African music festival Africajarc, for more details see www.africajarc.com. The place will be buzzing with music and a market of African crafts and food.

At the end of October there is a more sedate Fete du Safran du Quercy, with a special market, and menus featuring saffron in the local restaurants. You can take a tour of a saffron field with M. Didier Doucet, but if you are staying at Chez Caroline, it will be right in front of you! Visit www.safran-du-quercy.com

Only 15 minutes away is St Circ Lapopie, one of Les Plus Beaux Villages de France, and it certainly is beautiful. Explore the narrow streets and enjoy the craft shops and traditional restaurants. www.saint-cirqlapopie.com

About 30 minutes away are the interesting towns of Cahors, Figeac and Villefranche de Rouergue, each with superb churches to visit. The Thursday morning market at Villefranche is one of the best in south west France.

Chez Caroline is less than 10 minutes walk from La Chemin du Compostella so it's an ideal base for walkers too.

And if all this sounds like too much hard work, take some time to laze in the shady garden or on the sunny terrace with beautiful views.
Relax!
